The only permanence is now

Everything is temporary. Everything. A mountain just as much as a cloud.
Except for now; it's permanently now.
Clouds take on the form of Muizenberg Peak as the southeast winds blow change into both.

was sitting sorting flat pebbles from spherical ones to cast into my new shower floor when it occurred to me that I was putting a lot of love and effort into something that I would possibly sell sooner rather than later. I have made a shower floor like this before, but that time I assumed that I would be using it for many, many more years. Then I realised a few other things: I was enjoying the simple pleasure of playing with pebbles; when I discovered an apparently plain pebble to have a unique and varied beauty, my mind would be distracted into quietness and appreciation so in those moments I had no past or future, like I used to be able to do as a child; when my mind went back to what it usually does, I also realised that even things we think of as permanent are so temporary - often unexpectedly so; anything that provides pleasure is worth making a good effort for; and no matter how fleeting anything is, dive into it and enjoy it to your fullest...

I love feedback! Energy flows both ways, so let me know what you think, whether it's positive or constructively critical, both are valuable!
