In the middle of the Karoo, somewhere between there and nowhere, is a
teeny tiny town called Maitjiesfontein. It has a transport museum. And a
hotel (just one). And a red London bus. And is an absolutely wonderful
venue for a wedding! And I had the pleasure of venturing out there with
Sally Wellbeloved as my second photographer this past weekend to
photograph Chris and Rich celebrating their marriage with their very
special family and friends, and couldn't resist sharing a sneak peak
with you.

The Karoo has some pretty spectacular sunsets, and Saturday's was no
execption... (and a local decided to drive along the dirt road just when
I thought some dust would make the picture just right!) |

Just like in most things in life, it actually the moments in between where the realness is, and it's those that I love photographing the most, like when Chris and Rich were hiding around the side of the chapel while their guests exited, or when they were walking along the train platform to where the whole group photo was going to be taken... |

As
anyone who's been married or involved in wedding knows, no matter how
relaxed you've intended it to be there is almost always so much
happening in a pretty short space of time and so many people to connect
with, that I find the romantic portraits of the bride and groom on their
own to be a little private bubble of peaceful space for the newly-wed
couple to connect with each after the ceremony. |
 |
Maitjiesfontein is a photographer's dream location for a wedding! *sigh* So many photo opportunities, so little time! |
 |
Chris and Rich's guests were treated to a guided tour of the entire town on Maitjiesfontein's classic red London bus - which also kindly gave the bride a lift down the entire length of the main road (all 250m of it!) to the outskirts of town for a quiet moment with her groom. |

I love feedback! Energy flows both ways, so let me know what you think, whether it's positive or constructively critical, both are valuable!
