few days making up for it! And while it may burn all the leaves off
the land plants, it also blows a host of interestings onto the beach.
These little guys are miniscule - the size of the fine grains of beach
sand give a clue to their tinyness - and are almost missable on the
edges of the tide lines. But what they lack in size they make up for
in detail and colour and, well, interestingness! If anyone has an idea
as to what they are, please feel free to inform me!

The seasons are definitly changing, and while we in the
South are preparing for the sunny, warm, if windy, kind of good
weather, I guess those in the North are preparing for the dark wet,
and windy, kind of good weather. I was contacted by the owner of this
blog, and I thoughoroghly enjoyed her prose - thought you might too...

I'm running out of ways to tell you what a pleasure your posts are! Couldn't wait to come over and indulge once again in the ambrosia of your articulate genius : )
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic little photo! It's glimpses like this of the minutiae of life that I find so comforting...That the Author of the Universe cares to fashion and custom design these diminutive creatures shown here, seems a picture of the attention to detail paid to you and me...How intimately involved He is after all, and not so far away...
Thankful for your unique vision, thankful for your passing it on : )
Peace, friend...
p.s. "dark wet and windy, kind of good weather" I loved this...the little bits in your writing that take the reader by surprise...good chocolate indeed, yummy little truffles with unexpected fillings! : )
ReplyDeleteIt made me smile because I LOVE this sort of weather...while most find it miserable, I find it cozy, I feel "tucked in" on days like this and sense a sort of cosmic permission slip to snuggle up, turn off, and enjoy something carby whose calories somehow don't seem to count as much ; )
...thus begins my favorite time of year : )
thanks so much for your lovely words! :)
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteSee below response from Dive Spot on what your jellyfishythingy is...
Thank you
Carolann
The Jelly fish thingy is called a By-the-wind sailor - Velella sp., falls under the Cnidaria (blue bottles, jellies and corals)
It is harmless to man. It floats on the surface of the ocean and male and female have different 'sails', otherwise they will all be blown in the same direction and never meet.
The mouth is below the float and it uses it tentacles to catch plankton
It is a warm water species and occurs all around the South African coastline.

The jellyfishythingy is a "by-the-wind sailor" aka as Vellela vellela, a distant cousin of the Portuguese Man-'o-War.
