Greeting the first storm of winter

How do I keep fit for walking in the mountains?
I photograph weddings.
How do I keep fit for weddings?
I dash out the house at the first sign of a northwesterly storm without my remote shutter release or tripod and end up deciding to take some self-portraits; after 200 takes, boulder-hopping back each time to check pose, etc., I have probably covered a few kilometers of the same ground!

So, while I'm waiting waiting for over 100GB of wedding photos to download and render previews (the down side of having a 36 megapixel camera), here's what I couldn't resist going out into this morning:

Greeting the first storm of winter
Costume by God
Hair by North West Winds
Tripod by Mother Nature
Props by Ancient Geological Forces

Have a good Cold Front Day! (If you're lucky enough to be in Cape Town!)

  1. You are a legend. What a great photo. You have inspired me to try and catch the front as it heads my way...

  2. Thanks Chris! I would love to see the results of your front-chasing! (or it chasing you! ;-) I couln't resist a quick pre-bedtime-peek at your website, and I have to say I love your work! I'm going to have to check back for more, but that one of the tiny tree and huge cloud! Oh my hat! Brilliant!

I love feedback! Energy flows both ways, so let me know what you think, whether it's positive or constructively critical, both are valuable!
