Somewhere Else

I felt like featuring something other than the ocean this week, but as I've only really been photographing the ocean lately, I decided to delve into my archive and came across these two out-takes from that I intended to merge into a vertorama. In the process, in that way of happy accidents, something like this happened. I fiddled and faddled a bit (I think that should be the technical term) until I felt the moods were just right: the merging of two very different moods, one of openness and distance and the other of fullness and nearness, turning a very familiar place into Somewhere Else.
I'd love to know what you think of it (and any guesses as to where it really is!)
